STK 10231 1948 Cushman Civilian Airborne Model 53A
During WWII, Airborne scooters were dropped out of planes to the military operations. After the war, Cushman sold these scooters to the public, calling them the Civilian Airborne. This was the first use of the authentic apple green color. Note the downward directed muffler pipe - this pipe was soon placed outside the frame and directed rearward. The silver painted motors and running gear was authentic for the 1948 Fifty Series models. This 1948 Civilian Airborne is an unrestored original. It runs and has a title. It also comes to us from the personal collection of the late Dennis Carpenter. ALL ITEMS SOLD "AS-IS"
